Dr Julian Orton
Dr Julian J Orton joined the practice as a new partner in 1995 and became senior partner in 2002. He reduced to ¾ time in April 2006.
He is married with a son and comes from Surbiton, Surrey. He went to school locally at King’s College School, Wimbledon, where he obtained a junior scholarship.
He did his medical training at Manchester University, graduating in 1986, and then worked in Manchester for two years before returning to London in 1988 to embark on a career in hospital medicine. Over the next two years, he undertook several teaching hospital posts in medicine and obtained the specialist qualification for doctors training to become a hospital consultant physician. It was during this time that he developed his interest in cardiology (in particular, coronary heart disease and its prevention) and diabetes. He also had an increasing interest in general practice, and in 1990/91 decided to switch careers, necessitating time in other hospital specialties relevant to general practice. These included accident and emergency medicine, obstetrics and gynaecology, psychiatry and paediatrics.
He completed his GP training in a practice in Fetcham in 1993.
His paediatric experience is extensive having spent two years in children’s medicine both in hospital and in the community. Dr Orton established the Practice’s weekly Child Development Clinic in 1995. He also set up and helps run the monthly multidisciplinary diabetic clinic.
