Dr Sumathy Suntharalingam

Dr S SuntharalingamDr Sumathy Suntharalingam joined the Practice as a part-time self-employed General Practitioner in December 2004, covering Dr Muthu’s maternity leave.  She increased to full-time from April 2006 and now also looks after Dr Orton’s patients on Tuesdays. 

Dr Suntharalingam is from Redhill and was educated in Oakwood School, Horley and Reigate College.  She did her medical training at the Charing Cross and Westminster Campus of Imperial College, London, graduating in 2000.  Her first post was in Haywards Heath, then going on to work in Margate. 

She underwent her 3 year GP vocational training scheme at Crawley and East Surrey Hospital.  This involved working in Accident and Emergency, psychiatry, obstetrics & gynaecology and paediatrics.  She spent the final year undergoing GP training in a General Practice in Crawley, completing this in November 2004.

BSc Bachelor of Science (Biochemistry)
MBBS Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery
DRCOG Diploma of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists
MRCGP Membership of the Royal College of General Practitioners

Dr Suntharalingam’s availability for surgery consultations:

  • Monday morning and Monday afternoon
  • Tuesday morning and Tuesday afternoon
  • Wednesday morning and Wednesday afternoon
  • Friday morning and Friday afternoon

The practice is still operating personal lists.  Dr Suntharalingam shares her list with Dr Muthu.  She is also happy to see any patients of Dr Orton’s or Dr Holbrook’s who would rather see a female doctor for a particular problem, usually as a one-off consultation.
